How to Get Your First Government Contract

When I was operating in the retail world on a daily basis. I was always looking for new ways to take my business to the next level. I was trying to make sure I looked under every rock and turned every stone I could. while doing so, I came across Government contracts my friends. Now Government contracts are when you bid to provide a need or a service for the government. If you win the bid, you get paid to fulfill the contract. Not bad right? The best part of all is that there is almost a need for everything when it comes to government contracts my friends. I’ve seen contracts for clothing, food, and even pickup and delivery services. So, today I’m going to share with you what you should be looking for to better your odds of winning your first government contract.

GSA Schedule Contracts

First thing I want you to look up when you’re on the site SAM.gov my friends is GSA Schedule Contracts. These contracts are for anyone with some kind of products or services they can sell to federal agencies guys. One thing I do want to give you guys a heads up on is that you will have to be able to provide a lot of whatever you are selling. I saw a contract on there for pork. They wanted like tons of pork to be provided. All kind of pork to as well while I’m at it. So, if you were a farmer and could fill this order this would have been the contract for you.

Small Business Set-Aside Contracts

They are contract that is just for small businesses out there. The government provide these contracts for small businesses to help keep things pretty fair. If you’re a small business trying to compete with a larger company to provide boots. How can you truly be the output of larger companies with their employees, factories, and connections. So, in order to help the little guys out we have the small business set-aside contracts for us. Really looking for these to help get your foot in the door my friends. They can be really beneficial for small businesses.

Micro-Purchases

Now, I saved for you guys the best one for last if you ask me. With micro-purchases they allow federal agencies to buy directly from you. This way you skip the whole bidding process and go right to the buyer. Cutting out the waiting time and worrying you would have been doing to see if you won a bid on a contract. This is really the best way to get in good with government if you want to start winning contracts my friends.
